Cooperative Care Dog Training Newcastle

Does your dog shut down, freeze, or become stressed when it's time for grooming, ear medications, or a vet visit? Cooperative Care is a gentle, consent-based approach that transforms routine handling from something your dog endures into something they can genuinely tolerate — and even enjoy.

Using trust-based techniques, these sessions build your dog's confidence and comfort with being touched, examined, and cared for — making everyday handling easier and less stressful for everyone involved.

Is This Right for Your Dog?

Cooperative Care is ideal for dogs and guardians who need support with:

  • Grooming – brushing, bathing, nail trims, and clipping
  • Ear cleaning or administering ear medications
  • Vet visits and veterinary handling
  • General body handling – touching paws, mouth, ears, and skin
  • Any routine care that causes stress, avoidance, or resistance

This package is especially valuable for dogs who have had negative experiences with handling in the past, or guardians who want to build trust and prevent problems before they develop.

What to Expect

Sessions are held in the comfort of your home — the environment where handling actually happens. Each of the four sessions builds progressively on the last:

  • Introducing handling in a calm, low-pressure way your dog can opt into
  • Building positive associations with grooming tools, touch, and examination
  • Teaching your dog to communicate comfort and discomfort clearly
  • Practical guidance for you to continue the work between sessions
  • Written session summaries after every appointment
